The Chunky Sandal!

The Chunky Sandal!

If you only knew how long i’ve been tempted, but at the same time running away from the chunky sandal also known as the “dad” sandal trend! If I’m being honest, I didn’t think it would fit me my shape. My small frame with these clunky sandals on my feet? That wouldn’t look right, I thought (lol). I would online shop and come across a cute pair with cut outs and detailed straps and buckles, but I would still “run away” from the trend. However, I gave into temptation during quarantine and figured, “eh, if I don’t like em’ i’ll just send em’ back!”

I bought my very first pair of chunky Sandals on ASOS , an online shopping store. They often have pretty good sales, they ship quickly and returning items are simple. If you have never shopped with ASOS, give them a look and make a purchase. I’m sure you’ll find something. Therefore, I felt it best to purchase a nice chunky sandal from them and if I didn’t like it, i’d be able to send it back, hassle free.

The style of the sandal is called “ASOS DESIGN Fallon chunky sandal” in black. After receiving my sandal, I tried them on and was still a bit apprehensive about what i’d wear with them and how it would look. I even asked my daughter what she thought and y’all… she was NOT having it, lol. She actually told me to return them and then asked me what I was thinking when I made that purchase. Well, I didn’t listen to her and instead decided to go on my Pinterest (follow me) and search for inspiration on things to wear with them.

I didn’t want to think to much into it so I decided to go with a summer dress that was not too tight like a body-con dress, but it had to “match” the oversized chunky vibe of the sandal. I found this “Smock it to ’em midi dress” from Nasty Gal during their 80% off summer sale (it’s still going on). I imagined this look in my head. Then I kept it simple and accessorized the look with a mini Zara crossbody bag and a pair of cat eyed black sunnies also purchased from Nasty Gal and boom!; this is the look we got!

What do you think about how I styled these chunky sandals? would you ever wear them? Are you into the “dad” sneakers or chunky shoe trend?

This looks so good! I’m hesitant to try to trend because your girl has got big feet and I’m pretty tall so I’m not sure how it would look, but I love the look of it. Very 90s.

I wear a size 7.5 in women and 5.5 in boys. If you’re around my size im sure it’ll look fine. I’d say buy it, try it and if you’re not sure… send it back.
